Bio-Starter is used with Bio-Seed where the material being treated may contain elements that slow or prevent the establishment of beneficial cultures. Bio-Starter allows the development of fermentative cultures regardless of the background material. For regular inoculation into a wastewater stream or pipe, Bio-Starter and Bio-Seed are used at a 1:1 ratio.

For regular inoculation into a wastewater stream or pipe, dilute Bio-Starter 1:10 with water and use it at a 1:1 ratio with Bio-Seed. Apply using a dosing pump or similar metered dosing equipment.

The specified Bio-Starter application rate is 1 L/day where flow volume is below 10,000 L/day and 4 L/day where flow volume is above 10,000 L/day. Application should be directed to a quiescent zone where water flow slows as it passes through an area of installed media.

How is Bio-Starter applied to wastewater, collected liquid or ponds?

For wastewater or collected liquid, apply 1 L of Bio-Starter per 20,000 L of liquid volume, diluted 3:100 with water. Spray onto the surface using a coarse spray to ensure carriage to the liquid surface.

Aim for even coverage, with particular attention to entry and exit zones, pond or collection-area banks, and areas where material is depositing in the water.

Can Bio-Starter be applied to collected non-liquid material?

Yes. For collected non-liquid material or treatment areas, apply 1 L per 1,000 m², diluted 3:100 with water, to the surface of the material being treated. Use a fine spray where available, but do not aerosolise the product. Proximity to the material being treated and even coverage are important to product effectiveness.

How should Bio-Starter be stored?

Store Bio-Starter in a shaded place until ready for use and do not freeze. Keep the container closed and free from debris when not in use, and do not shake. Bio-Starter is a fermented product, so its colour and odour may vary during storage.
