Calving places enormous metabolic and physiological demands on dairy cows. Immediately after calving, cows are commonly dehydrated, have increased calcium requirements and are at greater risk of metabolic disorders such as milk fever, ketosis and metritis. Administering a fresh cow drench as soon as possible after calving helps support hydration, encourages cows back onto feed and assists their transition into early lactation. BLAST-OFF™ has been specifically formulated to support cows during this critical period.

Yes. One of the primary objectives of BLAST-OFF™ is to help cows recover quickly after calving so they return to eating, drinking and milking sooner. According to the product information, research, field evaluations and commercial farm experience have shown that properly formulated fresh cow drenches administered within 12 hours of calving are commonly associated with average milk production increases of around six litres per cow per day during the first 60 days of lactation. By supporting hydration, calcium status, rumen function and metabolic recovery, BLAST-OFF™ helps set cows up for a productive lactation.

BLAST-OFF™ has been formulated as the most comprehensive fresh cow drench available, combining calcium propionate, alkalising salts, organic trace minerals, vitamins, prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics and live (viable) yeast in one convenient formulation. This comprehensive approach supports multiple aspects of fresh cow health, including hydration, blood calcium levels, rumen function, immune competence and metabolic recovery, without the need to source and mix numerous individual ingredients.

BLAST-OFF™ works by addressing several of the key nutritional and metabolic challenges that occur immediately after calving. Its calcium propionate helps support blood calcium levels, while alkalising minerals assist in restoring acid-alkaline balance (DCAD). The formulation also includes organic trace minerals, vitamins, prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics and the live yeast Actisaf® Sc 47 to help support immune function, stabilise rumen microflora and encourage cows back onto feed quickly following calving.

For best results, BLAST-OFF™ should be administered as soon as possible after calving, ideally within the first 12 hours. The recommended feeding rate is 500 g for small breeds and 750 g for large breeds. It can be mixed with 2–2.5 litres of water for a standard drench or 20 litres of water for a high-volume drench to further support rehydration. BLAST-OFF™ has zero-day meat and milk withholding periods and a zero-day export slaughter interval, making it suitable for commercial dairy operations.

Yes. To provide the best value for producers, BLAST-OFF™ is normally supplied in economical 8 kg buckets, which are kept in stock for immediate dispatch. For producers who prefer the convenience of pre-measured doses, BLAST-OFF™ can be manufactured to order in 500 g, 750 g or 1 kg sachets.
