Following WagyuEdge'26 in Brisbane, the conversation moved from the conference floor into the field as 4Sight joined the Australian Wagyu Association's post-conference tour through Queensland.

The tour provided a valuable opportunity to spend time inside some of Australia's leading Wagyu, reproduction, feedlot and beef-processing operations, seeing firsthand how genetics, nutrition, management, technology and supply-chain integration come together in commercial production.

For 4Sight, experiences such as these are an important part of staying connected with the industries we serve — getting beyond the exhibition stand and engaging directly with the people, production systems and businesses driving Australian agriculture forward.

From genetics to processing

Across the tour, we had the opportunity to visit:

  • Toro Wagyu

  • Wise Repro

  • Olive Grove Wagyu

  • Mort & Co – Grassdale Feedlot

  • Arubial Wagyu & Lillyvale Feedlot

  • Australian Country Choice

  • Teys Australia

Together, the visits provided exposure to multiple stages of the beef production and supply chain — from genetics and reproduction through cattle production, feeding and lot finishing to processing.

Seeing these operations firsthand provides a level of context that is difficult to gain from technical presentations alone.

Each business approaches its part of the supply chain differently, but throughout the tour there was a consistent emphasis on professionalism, measurement, continual improvement and the application of technology to commercial production.

Understanding production at ground level

For an agricultural technology business, understanding how producers actually operate is critical.

Technologies ultimately need to perform within real production environments, alongside existing feeding programs, management practices, infrastructure and commercial objectives.

Spending time with producers and industry specialists provides an opportunity to better understand those environments — including where production challenges occur, how management decisions are made and where new technologies may have practical relevance.

It also provides valuable context for the conversations 4Sight has with our international technology partners.

The better we understand Australian production systems, the better positioned we are to connect technical innovation with the practical requirements of the local industry.

Learning from leading operators

One of the strongest impressions from the tour was the willingness of host businesses to share their experience.

Opening commercial operations to industry participants provides an opportunity for genuine knowledge exchange — not only around what is working, but around the challenges, decisions and continual improvement required to operate sophisticated agricultural businesses.

For the 4Sight team, these conversations are particularly valuable.

They contribute to our understanding of the industry beyond individual technologies and help us remain connected to the broader factors influencing productivity, animal performance and commercial decision-making.

Staying close to Australian beef

WagyuEdge'26 demonstrated the innovation and technical capability within Australia's Wagyu industry. The post-conference tour provided an opportunity to see many of those principles applied in commercial environments.

From genetics and reproduction through feeding, production and processing, the experience reinforced the sophistication and integration behind Australia's premium beef supply chain.

A sincere thank you to the Australian Wagyu Association, the tour organisers and each of the host businesses for their time, hospitality and willingness to share their knowledge.

For 4Sight, it was an exceptionally valuable few days of learning, conversations and industry connection — with plenty to take forward.
